The John Wick franchise isn’t just about incredible action scenes and deadly fights, it’s also packed with unforgettable lines that stick with you long after the movie ends. Whether it’s John Wick’s calm but deadly warnings or the chilling threats, the dialogue gives the series its own special charm. These quotations are more than simply words, they express the feelings of the characters, their moral code, and the deadly environment they live in.
Let’s explore some of the best quotes from the Wick series that make us want to grab a pencil (or maybe a cup of tea) and think twice about messing with a guy who just wanted to live a quiet life.
10 Best Quotes from the John Wick Series
He was once associate of ours. They call him “Baba Yaga”. John is a man of focus… commitment… and sheer will”
Viggo Tarasov (Part 1)

At the very beginning of the movie, one thing was clear that John (Keanu Reeves) was an assassin who took retirement for the sake of his wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan), then all of a sudden a thug named Losef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) stole his car and killed his dog on purpose. That started a war which turned to be a real disaster that ended in part 4 of the series.
But, what really captures our attention in part 1, is the terror we saw on Viggo’s (Michael Nyqvist) face. He wanted to save his son from John, as it was clear that he used to work for him. These lines when he tried to explain about Wick aka Baba Yaga to his son, show his reputation and skill set. This is why by the end of part 1, Baba Yaga took Viggo’s whole organization down and he thought he was back to retirement again.
You made a new life. You’ll find your way back to it.
Marcus (Part -1)

A close friend and an associate, who even gave his own life to save Wick in the first part. When Mrs. Wick died, Marcus (Willem Dafoe) was the first one to show up at the funeral, he really cared about his friend, and along with his condolence, he tried to knock some real facts in John’s mind that he’s an assassin and he can’t get away with his previous life. So it’s better to be prepared, and maybe he was right.
Marcus is one of the most loyal characters in the Wick series and despite getting a painful ending, he was one of the friends who supported and stood by Wick’s side.
Can a man like you know peace?
Abram Tarasov (Part 2)

After taking out Viggo, Wick went after his brother Abram Tarasov (Peter Stormare) who held up his car taken by his nephew. The most interesting part is that this man was also terrified when he heard Baba Yaga came for his car. His associate tried to convince him that we could take down one man, but, he repeated the same lines as his brother about focus, commitment, and sheer will of Wick.
And finally, when Wick found his car he shook Abram’s hand and drank on peace which states that there would be no more war between these two. But, Abram was curious about this after what Wick had done to his family, so he asked him that, if a man like you really knows peace.
A marker is no small thing, John. For a man to grant a marker to another is to bound a soul to blood oath.
Santino D’ Antonio (Part 2)

Part 2 came with a lot of knowledge and facts about the High Table. The funny thing is, when John finally took his car back from the Tarsaov family, he thought he could continue his retirement and live the rest of his life with his wife’s memory. But, as his dearest friend Marcus told him in the first part, he can never escape this life, and the same happened to him afterward.
Santino D’ Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) came to John to get a favor as he was the bearer of his marker. Mr. Wick tries to refuse him by saying he’s retired, but no one can escape the table, so after getting a rejection he blows up Wick’s house (as this was his right). This one marker led John to a series of killings which we saw in the next three parts.
There are certain set of rules that everyone beneath the High Table has to follow otherwise their life is forfeited.
- No business can be conducted to the Continental grounds.
- A marker has to be honored
This is why Santino took advantage of John’s situation as he helped him long ago and now he managed to trap him to do his unfaithful business.

Then humor me with, uh… But one question. Are you here for the Pope?
Juliuis – The mangager of Italian Continental (part 2)

Julius (Franco Nero) was the manager of the Italian Continental Hotel. As the manager, he was supposed to look after every detail and happenings going on in Italy under the High Table. When he saw that Mr. Wick was in Rome, he was astonished as everyone knew he was retired. So, he thought to ask him if he was after the Pope, as John was never known to visit a place for no reason, that’s why his visit made him suspicious.
Because… I lived my life my way… And I’ll die my way
Gianna D’ Antonio (Part 2)

There was a reason Santino’s sister Gianna D’ Antonio (Claudia Gerini) became successor of her father. She appeared in only one scene in the Wick Franchise but we can claim her to be ferocious and highly respectable by her attitude and class.
Even though there’s no mention of their father, but one thing is certain that Antonios were one of the 12 members who sit at the High Table. Santino was supposed to take that seat but he didn’t as it was passed to his sister and that’s why he marked John to eliminate his sister so he could take the seat in her stead.
Unfortunately, Gianna was also a close associate of Baba Yaga, but he was forced to eliminate her. But, interestingly, Miss Antonio was a classy woman who wanted to leave this planet in her own style not by force. So, she took her own life and made John’s work easy.
You stabbed devil in the back and forced him back into the life that he just left.
Winston (Part 2)

Winston (Ian McShane) is the man who is managing one of the most superior continentals under the High Table and that is in New York. He personally liked Jonathan and always guided him like a father. He saved him a lot of times and even stood by his side when he was declared excommuincado.
When Santino assassinated his sister, he sought revenge from Wick and put a bounty on his head. He thought this to be a win-win game by eliminating her sister and putting an end to the life of the man who did that. But, he forgot one thing, that, it’s the boogeyman he’s playing with. That’s why after completion of his marker, Winston warned him about Wick.
My father used to say “how you do anything, is how you do everything”. Called it the first and last rule of life.
Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont (Part 4)

Marquis (Bill Skarsgård) is one of the 12 members of the High Table, who appeared in part 4 of the Wick series, and he was especially appointed by High Table officials to kill John Wick. His character is fierce and all he understands are “results” doesn’t matter the consequences or costs.
He deconsecrated Winston’s hotel and declared him excommunicado after he killed his concierge (Charon played by Lance Reddick). He wanted to kill Wick so badly that he put his most loyal friends against him. And, when he mentioned these words to Winston about saying of his father, he was only trying to undermine him by explaining his failures about Wick.

Fools talk, cowards are silent, but wise men listen.
Shimazu Koji (Part 4)

Another great character, is Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada), the manager of Osaka Continental and one of the most loyal friends of Wick. He literally gave his life for honor and loyalty. He could have set himself aside and betrayed John for a formal cause, but, he didn’t.
When Marquis sent his men to deconsecrate Osaka’s Continental, Koji said these wise words to the men who came to kill him. Despite having a short time on-screen his words and actions took his character to the upper level. He seemed wise and loyal, and most of all he was very brave.
You always have an angle, don’t you?
John Wick (Part 4)

After so much struggle and fight to get his freedom, John finally meets Winston in Chapter 4, who helps him by advising old ways to win his freedom back against the High Table.
Curiously, Jonathan asks Winston, why is he helping him, and he finds out that he’s getting back his hotel and position as a manager of the continental. He passes a compliment to Winston in a sarcastic way that he always had an angle in every situation. But, he didn’t mind at all, still he wanted to help him and get his freedom.
