A movie or series comes with all kinds of characters, normally the good ones and the bad ones. The more types there are more twisty it becomes. In accordance with preference, everyone has their own choice of course, not everyone likes the heroes all the time. Then come the characters that never get the spotlight like actual heroes do, but sometimes their actual work is more supportive than heroes.
These types of characters normally suffer more than others. We normally never talk too much about these people, as they normally don’t make it till the end of the series, due to sacrifices or due to supportive roles. But, in my opinion, they deserve to be discussed and spotted more often.
These characters are no less than heroes.
Now, if you talk about Stranger Things, this series is more than about Dungeons & Dragons, monsters, creatures, dimensions, and adventures. In this article, we’ll be discussing all the characters who suffered the most throughout the series.
We will specifically look at the main events, reasons, and categorize them accordingly to deeply understand their sufferings.
The Most Hurt Characters in Stranger Things
Let’s discuss them categorically according to their roles and overall standing throughout the season.
All The Main Characters Who Suffered The Most in Stranger Things
Eleven

- Role: Leading character
- Appeared in: All 4 seasons (in every episode)
- Fate: Alive
Key painful moments
Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) character is one of the most important characters of the show. We can say she is the backbone of the series. Her life was always tough from the very beginning of the show. The things she suffered are beyond measurement, and these sufferings cannot be considered normal for a simple childhood.
All the sufferings became a very strong reason for her strength and strong personality.
- When she was born, she was taken away from her mother.
- She never got to see the actual world before she escaped the Hawkins Lab.
- The man she called Papa was never a father to her, he was just using her, so she could be trained to kill in warfare.
- By the time she discovered about her mother it was too late, and she had to leave her for her own safety.
- Never got to know about her actual family.
- Was always treated as a pet lab and as an science experiment.
- She was never safe with her true identity, even she had done nothing wrong.
- Lost her powers.
- Bullied in school even after she got one.
- Lost another father when she was finally about to settle in season 3.
- Had to bear the burden for being a monster when actually she was always a savior.
Why she suffered
She never deserved to suffer in such horrible ways, as a matter of fact, no child deserves this. But, we can say she was unlucky, she was delivered by Dr. Martin Brenner (Mathew Modine) himself, who always had some hidden and bad agendas for newborn babies, as he was secretly running this operation to train newborns in a way they can be used for remote assassinations and as a complete weapon.
Later on, after her escape, she discovered new friends in the town of Hawkins, but, again, due to forced circumstances and especially because of Brenner, she lost them too. Hopper (David Harbor) adopted her and promised to keep her safe, but her feelings for Mike (Finn Wolfhard) drove her to take a stupid step, which was leaving her safe house, and that step again put her in trouble.

Eleven from season 1 | Getting trained in Hawkins Lab
Still, Hopper was a policeman as well, so he did what he could best do to save her, but she lost his second father (Hopper) as well in the end of season 3. Then, she lost her powers as well, which ultimately became a good thing for her, because that was the only opportunity she could realize her true past and identity, and to overcome her past traumas, to become a normal human being.
How she grew stronger
It was never an easy path without two people in her life, who really got attached to Eleven, and they were Mike and Jim Hopper. What Hopper did for her, very few people do this kind of thing normally these days. He literally promised to keep her safe, despite the risks and threats he could have faced.
She accepted her fate, was forced to move from one place to another throughout the series due to safety reasons, and still she accepted her new family. Was bullied in school after losing her powers, still, she tried to stand her ground, faced them, and continued to be strong.

Eleven and Will | A glimpse of season 4 when Eleven was finally adopted by Will’s family and got an admission in school
She was the most quite character of the show in the beginning, who hardly spoke a word in the first season, but by the end she was just like a normal child.
She again worked with the same person she had despised her whole life, and got her powers back. Season after season, the more people she got to know she accepted them with an open heart and grew stronger. She got a new name “Jane Hopper” after she was finally adopted.
Key moments of Eleven’s suffering
- No early childhood enjoyments
- No parents
- No actual brothers and sisters
- Grew up in a lab with no love
- Got no friends
- Bullied by everyone
- Tortured and forced to use her powers
- Moved from place to place
- Lost her powers
- Lost her new father as well
- Became a criminal by the end, despite being a hero because of so many misunderstandings
Will Byers

Will in season 1 | The moments before he was about to taken to Upside Down
- Role: Main character
- Appeared in: All 4 seasons (almost in every episode)
- Fate: Alive
At some point in season 1, we get confused about Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) character, whether he’s a leading one or just going to be one of the victims of Demogorgon to create a storyline for the series. But the ending was good, as Will’s comeback from the Upside Down brought a lot of adventures.
His connection with the Mind Flayer is very beautifully portrayed, as whenever that creature was close, he always got goosebumps at the back of his head.
Will was like a GPS tracker for the Mind Flayer, as he could track him and could even track for him.
Why he suffered?
His actual suffering began when he was taken by Demogorgon to the Upside Down. As a matter of fact, he’s among those first people who visited the Upside Down and came back alive.
His mother did her best to save her son, and with the help of Jim, Will got back in the real world alive and well, but that was the beginning of his second phase of suffering, as he was still connected to the Mind Flayer, who controlled Upside Down and was among the most dangerous creatures and monsters that controlled that dimension.
Later on, he was again saved by his family and friends, but he never settled by the end, because he was emotionally attached to his childhood friends, but they were attached to their female partners as they grew up, and all of them fell in love like normal boys.
We can see his feelings throughout the series, especially for Mike. He never ended up with any girl, all he ever wanted was to spend time with his friends playing Dungeons & Dragons for the whole day, and that made his character very annoying towards his friends, after season 3.
But all of them were mature enough by that time, so they understood the meaning of space, which was a burden for Will, of course.
Key moments of Will’s suffering
- Being taken to a dark place
- Being possessed
- Losing his friends when he was growing up
- Too many medical checkups for no reason
- Feeling invisible
- Ignored at too many places
- Nightmares because of possession
As he grew up, we can see his personality development and a positive change in his character. He is always supportive, understanding, and helpful.

Max Mayfield

- Role: Main character
- Appeared in: Introduced in season 2 (appeared in all the rest of the series)
- Fate: Taken by Vecna
Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) is one of the cutest characters in the series, with a welcoming nature. She’s smart and knows how to carry herself and handle tough situations.
She was too smart, maybe that was the reason Steve (Joe Keery) never liked her driving skills.
Why she suffered?
Max was a jolly one till the end of the 3rd season, when the Flesh Monster took Billy (Dacre Montgomery). She never liked her stepbrother, but after his brutal death, she realized his value and presence in her life.
At first, she badly missed him, but later on, that became her real nightmare, as one thing was deeply biting her inside and that was the guilt of support and help. She realized that she knew everything, and she could have saved Billy on that day, but she never did anything because she hated him, and now his no more.
The same brother was so abusive at one point, and she always hated him and wished him dead, but when he was really gone, she wished to save him at any cost, and that was another level of trauma for Max.
That same guilt became a very good reason for Vecna (Jamie Campbell) to choose her for possession and add her to his list of people whose sufferings he was about to end to achieve his biggest agenda, which was to open as many gates to overcome Hawkins.

Max in season 4 | Her possession due to her sufferings and trauma
Later on, Max’s stepfather also left them, leaving them in a very bad situation. Her mother became an alcoholic, which was another kind of trauma, but she managed it anyway, because she felt good being alone with her mother.
key points of Max’s suffering
- Abusive stepbrother and stepfather
- Losing Billy
- Mental trauma
- Depression after Billyโs death
- Vecna haunting her mind
- Possession due to Vecna’s curse
- Running Up That Hill scene
- Ended up in a coma
It seems funny that Max had to rely on Kate Bush to save her life, but we have to give that scene a 10/10, as it was one of the most splendid plots in the series. Moreover, Max gave us some of the most funniest lines in the series.
Jim Hopper

- Role: Main character
- Appeared in: All seasons (all the episodes)
- Fate: Alive
The Hawkins Chief of Police, Jim Hopper, seemed to be a very non-serious guy in the first two episodes of the series. Later, we get to see his real personality when he literally risked his own life to save Will Byers and took a chance against agents in Hawkins Lab as well.
Why Jim suffered?
Jim was just an ordinary police chief, left alone in the world, divorced, lost his daughter due to cancer, and later, just serving his town as an honorable and responsible policeman.
His past traumas mentioned in the first season made him feel that he’s the cursed one. He had a war record in Vietnam as well (as per the series), which made him feel guilty that he had done too many bad things. He tries to be a good guy, whereas deep inside, he feels bad for himself.
Later, by the end of season 4, he lost all hope of living when he put Joyce’s (Winona Ryder) life in danger, who was actually trying to protect him from the KGB. He found another daughter (Eleven), who never got to see her father again because of his heroism in season 3.
Jim is one of the real heroes in Stranger Things.
Too many traumas and emotional damage made him feel that he’s not good for everyone around him. And maybe that’s the reason he gave up on everything by the end of season 4, allowing KGB to use him in their ways. But when he finally got to see Joyce after 8 months, that gave him a new hope of living and serving.

Jim in season 4, when KGB took him
Key moments of Jim’s suffering
- Lost his first daughter
- Lived in grief
- Lived alone
- His wife left after daughter’s death
- Faced too many dangers
- Risked his life
- Feeling like he will never be enough for Eleven
- Taken as a prisoner
- Betrayed by the man who was helping him to get out
- Broken emotionally and physically
Jim is a live example of what they say about good hearts suffer the most pain, sometimes for no reason.
Joyce Byers

- Role: Main character
- Appeared in: All seasons (almost all the episodes)
- Fate: Alive
Joyce is one of the most loving mothers in cinematic history. What she did to save Will was absolutely astonishing, and was the only reason his son came back alive, otherwise, all the other people had already attended his funeral.
Why Joyce suffered so much?
Joyce was left alone by her own husband, who was a non-serious guy. She never got a good husband, but her two kids meant everything to her. At first, she thought she had lost her younger son for God knows what reason. But when she got the slightest proof of his life, she did things beyond madness to find her son.
Even when Will came back alive, she became frightened and overprotective, always kept an eye on her son, used to check on him, and always worried for him even when he was safe.
Later, when Will was possessed by the Mind Flayer, she decided to take him on even which puts his son’s life in danger. She’s fierce, brave, and overprotective, but has suffered a lot for the safety of his children, especially the younger one.

Joyce in season 1 talking to lights when she got an asnwer from their blinking, thought Will lives in the lights now, so she made a new form of communication, which is depressing.
Bob Newby (Sean Astin) was another close friend of Joyce, who lost his life while saving Joyce, Hopper, and Will, and she felt too bad for him.
In season 4, she felt another kind of emotional trauma when she thought she lost Hopper, too. Joyce and Hopper developed a bit of emotional chemistry with each other while they were after the Russians, opening the portal again. But that didn’t end well for both of them, and she thought she lost Hopper, too.
Jim only trusted Joyce enough to send her a parcel with a secret code word, “Enzo,” which was their mutually decided dating point in their last moments.
Key moments of Joyce’s suffering
- Lost a son
- Left alone by husband
- Had to work hard even on Christmas to raise her children
- Felt through a lot of hatred while finding Will
- Had to look dumber in order to find Will
- Bob’s death
- Lost Hopper too
- Faced a lot of mental trauma while rescuing Hopper
- Always afraid of losing her children
Joyce is very brave, doesn’t matter, if anyone believes her or helps her, she is ready for anything, especially when it comes to safety of her children.

Supporting Characters Who Suffered A Lot in Stranger Things
Billy Hargrove

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: Introduced in season 2 (15 episodes, died in season 3)
- Fate: Killed by Flesh Monster
Billy Hargrove was a charming and exotic type of character in the series, who portrayed an alpha-type of personality. He always loved himself and no one else. The person he hated the most was his own stepsister, Max.
Why Billy suffered?
Billy’s father was very abusive, and he sent him to Hawkins from California because of his stepsister, so he could become a responsible person and keep an eye on her. He never liked anyone, even his own father. He was like a macho man who chases girls and superior things, has no decency or politeness.
We get to see Billy’s most traumatic and beautiful memory via Eleven when she tried to track and control him. The only person he ever loved was his mother, who was dead.
Later, his sufferings were more of a possessive nature. He was possessed by the Mind Flayer at the beginning of season 3, which turned out to be a major threat to the town of Hawkins. Everyone already feared Billy, so no one really suspected him of missing people, and girls easily attached to him, which was a great opportunity for Mind Flayer as well.
His suffering ended right at his death spot in Hawkins Mall, when Eleven tried to put him out of his possession by reminding him of his mother on the beach holding yellow sandals. That was the bravest move Bily ever made in the whole series, but, unfortunately, he lost his life, which turned out as a nightmare for Max.

Billy in season 3 fighting the Mind Flayer
Key moments of Billy’s suffering
- Lost his mother
- Abusive father
- Despises everyone
- Possessed by Mind Flayer
- Always angry
- Hated his stepsister
- Died trying to save Max
Steve Harrington

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: All seasons (42 episodes)
- Fate: Alive
The most charming and loving guy in the whole community with rich parents, a nice car, and an impressive personality. All he ever wanted was true love.
Why Steve suffered?
Steve looked like an ordinary character in the beginning, especially by the end of the first season. He was among those people who try to look cool and dangerous, but actually, he was a pretty decent guy.
Even after realizing his mistake, he goes back to Nancy (Natalia Dyer) to apologize and help her, but then he realizes after the end of the second season that she’s not meant for him, and he moves on with a broken heart.
His biggest complaint was about always being a babysitter, when all the other adults go for dangerous stuff, and he was the one looking after the younger ones.
He was among the best supporting characters in the series, but suffered a lot of unwanted threats and risks. He had to face dangerous creatures to save his own town. Had to visit the Upside Down to find clues and ways to save Max from Vecna’s curse.

Steve in Upside Down to help Max | Season 4
He almost lost his life while helping Max, couldn’t have been alive without the help of Nancy, Robin, and Eddie, who came after him to save him and bring him back.
Key moments of Steve’s suffering
- Nancy left him
- Beaten too many times
- Left alone by his favorite girl
- Always had to babysit
- Struggles with loneliness
- Almost lost his life in Upside Down
Nancy Wheeler

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: All seasons (almost all the episodes)
- Fate: Alive
Nancy was known as the queen of her Hawkins Middle School. In the beginning, she was just an ordinary girl whose mostly interested in her studies, but later on, she was involved in the complex secrets of Upside Down because of her friend Barbara (Shannon Purser).
Why Nancy suffered?
She never knew by the end of the first season that her best friend was dead because of her. She tried her best to find out about Barbara and to bring her home, as she was the only daughter of her parents.
Because of that mistake, Nancy had to visit the Upside Down, which was her worst nightmare that she couldn’t even share with anyone. Later, she had to face the burden of Barbara’s death, and the worst part was that she had to lie to her parents about their daughter’s death despite knowing the truth.
In season 3, she was doing a summer job at Hawkins Post, which turned out to be another major challenge of her life, as everyone there used to bully her, because of her looks and over-smartness. She had to face floor harassment, which resulted in a very tense relationship between her and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton).
After getting fired from Hawkins Post, Nancy realized that her strength came from her mother.

Nancy Wheeler in season 3
Later on, her biggest nightmare was a partial possession of Vecna in season 4. When she and her fellows tried to escape the Upside Down, but shortly before she could leave, Vecna possessed her to show his strength and plans for the real world, especially for Eleven. She couldn’t take it and decided to take him out at any cost.
Key points of Nancy’s suffering
- Lost Barbara
- Lost her relationship with Steeve
- Had to lie to Barbara’s parents
- Trouble balancing relationships and danger
- Facing Demogorgon face to face
- Bullied at workplace
- Fired because of helping a stranger
- Possessed by Vecna
- Threats by Vecna
Robin Buckley

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: Introduced in season 3 (17 episodes)
- Fate: Alive
Robin (Maya Hawke) is a crazy but sweet character. She’s smart, can speak multiple languages, is good-looking, emotional, has too many phobias, but is still a great friend.
Why Robin suffered?
Robin was introduced as an ordinary salesgirl with Steve in season 3, wearing an ice cream uniform, helping Steve earn some good money in their summer job. From the very first, she was not so pretentious, never talked too much, all she did was just keep an eye on Steve, who normally keeps an eye on other girls.
By the mid od second season, Robin and Steve were captured by Russians and got badly drugged, they truly opened up to each other, which shows us the real side of Robin. That also shows us the secret and emotional side of hers, especially her feelings for her soulmate, and her choice when it comes to love.
She spent her whole childhood fantasizing about her favorite girl, with whom she never even got a chance to speak. Later on, the same feelings she had for another girl, Vickie (Amybeth McNulty), from her school band. She never tried to propose to her because she feared she might scare her away.
She never opened up in front of anyone else besides Steve, because she knew that no one is going to like her after she revealed her desires.
Key points of Robin’s suffering
- Bullied for being different
- Scared to share her true identity
- Felt alone before meeting Steve
- Always scared of sharing her feelings
- Has too many phobias

Dustin Henderson

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: All seasons (almost all the episodes)
- Fate: Alive
I hope it’s not only me who thinks that Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is the most humble, intelligent, funny, and nerdy guy among the group. The guy is a real nerd, an expert in scientific tricks and general knowledge.
He’s a compass genius, which seems to be a funny fact, but, because of this little fact, he cracked the way to enter Upside Down in season 4.
Why Dustin suffered?
In the early seasons, Dustin was highly ignored by almost everyone at their school except Will, Lucas, and Mike. He’s got some kind of genetic disorder, which he calls cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD), which affects his collarbones and teeth, and that’s only in the series. He was teased by every bully at school because of his teeth, especially.
“I’ve told you a million times, my teeth are coming“. That’s what he tells everyone in the series.
Besides that fact, he still looks good and cute, but that fact is not suitable for children of that age. And that’s why at the end of season 2, everyone is dancing with their chosen one, but Dustin was rejected by every girl he tried to ask for a dance. He felt bad, really bad, and that’s why we can also see him cry before Nancy stepped forward and saved his night.
Moreover, I wonder if most people have noticed or not, but Stranger Things has taught us one of the best lessons on friendship, and that was between Dustin and Dart (a baby demogorgon). A monster got emotionally attached to a human, only because that human raised him. Dustin felt for him, but he knew already that he could never keep him.

Dustin and Dart’s last moments in season 2
No wonder what would have happened if Dustin had ever revealed Dart’s true nature, but by the end of season 2, it all went well, because ultimately, Dart was dangerous for the real world.
Later, he actually found a girl during his summer holidays in Utah, a girl named Suzie (Gabriella Pizzolo), who was really cute and intelligent, just like Dustin, but as he grew up, he made new friends like Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn).
The time he really suffered mentally and emotionally was in season 4, when he lost Eddie in Upside Down. That guy sacrificed his life to save Dustin and the other group members. Dustin’s biggest regret was that he could have saved Eddie’s life, but he couldn’t make it on time.

Dustin and Eddie in season 4 | The most painful moment in Dustin’s life when he lost a good friend in the Upside Down
Key painful moments of Dustin’s suffering
- Bullied in childhood, especially due to his teeth
- Felt alone as no girl never liked him really
- Felt jealous when Max chose Lucas over him
- Cried because no one chose him to dance with
- Lost Dart
- Lost Eddie
- Constant fear of losing friends
Lucas Sinclair

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: All seasons (almost all the episodes)
- Fate: Alive
Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) is one of the characters among the boys who never agrees with anything, always comes up with a different plan or ideology. Though he’s a good guy and helps everyone, he never agrees with Mike and Dustin.
Why Lucas suffered?
At first, Lucas never wanted Eleven to be a part of their group, as he used to think she might be a traitor. All of them got into a messy situation while finding Will in season 1, but that was purely a children’s fight. That’s why they wrapped it up quickly. Lucas accepted Eleven, and together they helped each other.
In seasons 2 and 3, Lucas can be mostly seen as a funny one, chasing Max and doing stupid stuff. The best example is from Season 3, when everyone is trying to escape the Flesh Monster, and Lucas is drinking Coke and stealing fireworks from Superstore. Even Max felt annoyed at that time, which is actually a funny scene.
But season 4 is totally a different kind of storyline for all the characters, as by that time, all of them are grown-ups now. Lucas wanted to be a famous guy and tried to get rid of bullying, and that’s why he left Mike and Dustin and joined the High School Basketball team.
He actually never seemed happy after that one decision, because Mike and Dustin were never interested in his games, Will was gone for good to California, and most of all, Max left him, which was a kind of emotional damage for him.
Lucas always cared for Max, even when she tried to push him away.
His real suffering began when he found out about Max’s curse and possession of Vecna. He did whatever he could to save her. He was the one who fought for her, got beaten, and tried to save himself from the curse, but he failed due to a little distraction, and we can see how badly he cried for Max at the end of season 4.

Lucas holding Max when Vecna took her | Season 4
Key points of Lucas’s suffering
- Ignored by his own friends due to Eleven
- Lost his actual friends chasing fame
- Lost Max as a girlfriend
- Got highly emotional due to Max’s possession
- Watching her be taken by Vecna
- Feeling weak and helpless
Dead Characters Who Suffered A Lot in Stranger Things
They might be dead but they are still important.
Barbara Holland

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: Season 1 (around 4 episodes)
- Fate: Dead
One of the most decent, polite, and humble girls of Hawkins Middle School. She was indeed a good girl and Nancy’s best friend.
Why Barbara suffered?
Barbara had a very short screen time. She seemed to be a good and decent girl, but she never stayed too long on the screen, as she was among the few victims that Demogorgon took to Upside Down.
We never saw anyone beside Will that came back alive from that dimension. As Will was taken from the back of his house, he might have got a chance quickly to hide in Castle Byers in the Upside Down, which was a lucky move.
But, speaking of Barbara, as she was taken from Steve’s swimming pool, she landed at the same place on other side. The first mistake she did, she yelled and screamed for help in a scary way, that got the attention of Demogorgon as well. Later, when Eleven tracked her using her powers, we can see that she was gone because of that virus that Mind Flayer puts in everyone’s mouth.

Barbara’s death in season 1 due after she was completely captured and trapped in the Upside Down
The same kind of vine was in Will’s mouth as well when Hopper and Joyce tracked him, but luckily, it was just the beginning, as Hopper was able to find him on time.
Key points of Lucas’s suffering
- Felt bad for Nancy
- Taken by the Demogorgon
- Died alone
- Forgotten by everyone except Nancy
Bob Newby

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: Season 2 (around 8 episodes)
- Fate: Dead
Bob Newby was just a simple man who worked at Radioshack in Hawkins Town. He was Joyce’s friend, just a formal one. So, the main thing is, he was never meant to be a part of all this, but, as he was close to Joyce and always kind to her children, his involvement ended up in his death.
He was a nice and helpful guy, that’s why Joyce liked his company. But she never told him about the other dimension, Hawkins Lab, and everything that happened to Will in season 1, as it could be dangerous for Bob as well, and obviously he would never have believed it.
But unfortunately, all of them ended up in Hawkins Lab in season 2. When the Mind Flayer used Will as a spymaster and captured the whole building, Bob really did a heroic work to save all the others trapped with him. Unluckily, he lost his own life, which was a painful thing for Joyce as well.
Bob Newby’s death was one of the most painful and horrific deaths in the series.
Key points of Bob’s suffering
- Kind-hearted but always scared
- Died trying to protect the Byers family
- No one remembers him as much as they should
Eddie Munson

- Role: Supporting character
- Appeared in: Season 4 (9 episodes)
- Fate: Dead
Eddie Munson was the leader of a fan-made occult called “The Hellfire”. He was one of the most jolly and attractive characters of season 4. What happened to him at the end of the season was terrible and truly broke many hearts.
Why Eddie suffered?
Eddie suffered for many reasons throughout season 4, and most of those reasons never even made any sense. We can say that he was among the most unlucky people in the 4th season.
When Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien) was possessed by Vecna, unluckily, Eddie was making a drug deal with her at the same time. The worst part was that it was being done at his trailer, which made him 100% suspicious of her death.
And when Vecna took his next Victim, whose name was Patrick (Myles Truitt), the same Eddie was present on the spot as well, and after that time, everyone confirmed that Eddie is the one to blame who is on the loose, and the police are not able to find him.
And after all that, when the group was finally able to track Vecna and learned how to kill him, Eddie entered the Upside Down with Dustin to lay a trap for demobats, where he finally changed his mind about running every time and tried to be a hero, and unfortunately, he lost his life, to help others so they can easily kill Vecna.

Eddie’s last happy moments in the real world | Season 4
Eddie always used to say that I’m good at running from bad situations, and the same Eddie gave his life by sticking to the ground by changing his mind about running away.
After Barbara, it was the second most painful death in the Upside Down.
The worst part about his suffering was that people never came to know about his real identity. Everyone thought by the end that Eddie was responsible for all the disasters that happened to Hawkins, but in reality, that guy was a hero.
Stranger Things is a mixture of pain, bravery, friendship, and how even the smallest person can carry the heaviest load. Every character has a battle we donโt always see, but it can be seen when they are gone.
These characters show us that everyone has a story, everyone has pain, and everyone has something to fight for. Maybe thatโs why these characters stay with us, because we see a little of our own struggles in them.
